"Fish Pond"

The first ribbon of the year, and it’s blue! The quilt, Fish Pond, was one in a category of 74 small quilts.

It heads to the Home Machine Quilt Show later this week for a show May 9-11, then off to Colorado for the Hoffman Challenge.

The quilt depicts my feelings of being a little fish in a big fish pond in hopes that I will someday rise to the top. It is an original design incorporating the 2013 Hoffman Challenge fabric. The center is hand needle turn appliqué using silk thread. Quilted on both a Phaff Quilt Expressions 4.0 and HQ Avante purchased in November 2012. Fourteen different colors of Sulky thread and 8 different colors of Swarvoski crystals. Antique glass buttons were used for the fish eyes, Paintstik rubbings created the scales on the fish

Something is a little fishy at my place. I'm putting on the embellishment of the Fish Pond. I will be adding crystals just as soon as they get here. I hope to have the 32 X 40" quilt completed for the DSQ Heritage Quilt Show - April 13 -14, 2013 at the Filer Fair Grounds, Filer, Idaho.
